The Cyprus National Guard is considering the acquisition of the Greek anti-drone system "Kentavros" to strengthen protection against drone threats.

According to media reports, the system will be integrated into the country's armed forces, although a final decision on the number of units has not yet been made.

The Kentavros system, developed by Hellenic Aerospace Industry, is designed to detect and neutralize unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It is capable of detecting drones at distances of up to 150 kilometers and generating radio interference to disrupt their operation at ranges of up to 25 kilometers.

The primary task of the complex is to sever communication between the drone and the operator or disrupt navigation and GPS, forcing the drone to land or leave the area.

The system can simultaneously detect and jam multiple targets and is also designed to counter larger military drones, such as the Bayraktar.

Previously, Kentavros was used on Greek naval vessels and underwent combat testing in 2024 during operations to protect merchant ships in the Red Sea.
