Severe Weather Causes Significant Damage to Potato Plantations in Cyprus
Severe weather has caused significant damage to potato plantations in several areas of Cyprus. According to farmers, large areas of agricultural land have suffered due to intense rain and strong winds.
Particularly serious problems have been recorded in areas where early potatoes are grown. Some fields were flooded, and plants were damaged due to strong wind gusts and soil waterlogging.
Producers note that the damage could affect the harvest and supply volumes if weather conditions do not improve soon. Farmers are currently assessing the extent of the damage and awaiting inspections from competent services.
It is expected that after the damage assessment, authorities will consider the possibility of compensation for the affected farmers.
