Similar proposals were also put forward during the visit to the island by the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General on Cyprus, Maria Angela Holguín Cuéllar.

Nikos Christodoulides expressed hope that the leader of the Turkish Cypriots will also accept the proposals from the UN.

"In this context, I believe that the meeting scheduled for April 5th in New York is important, and I hope there will be a positive response from the Turkish Cypriots," said Nikos Christodoulides.

Recall that earlier it was reported that the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, invited the President of TRNC, Ersin Tatar, to a meeting in New York. The personal meeting will take place on Friday, April 5th, at the UN headquarters.

It is expected that during his visit, Ersin Tatar will inform the UN chief about his position on the Cyprus issue.
