Overnight police raid across the country
Last night, police were active across the country, conducting organized patrols at key points in urban areas. The aim of these measures was to prevent serious crime, ensure public order, and increase the sense of security among citizens.
As part of these operations, twelve people were detained on charges including attempted arson, assault causing grievous bodily harm, driving under the influence of alcohol, and illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus.
During the night, 947 vehicles were stopped for inspection, and 1,225 drivers and passengers were checked. Simultaneously, 48 establishment checks were carried out, resulting in 9 violations of licensing conditions.
During traffic stops, 517 reports were filed for various traffic violations, of which 232 related to speeding. A total of 320 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 35 drivers found to be under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, two people tested positive for drugs during preliminary testing. As part of the police checks, 24 vehicles were seized.
Coordinated police operations to prevent and suppress crime continue daily. The increased police presence, targeted checks, and operational actions are aimed at enhancing the sense of security of citizens, their protection, and maintaining public order.
