The renovated Deryneia market will open on December 27: 50 stalls, a playground and modern design

The Deryneia Public Market (Λαϊκή Αγορά Δερύνειας) has been completely transformed and is preparing to welcome vendors and visitors again. According to the plans of the unified Paralimni–Deryneia municipality, the first working day is December 27.
In fact, it is a full reconstruction of the old market, which began operating back in 2013. The project, costing around €1.5 million, began in May 2024 and is being completed with a slight delay. The area has been equipped with open market rows with canopies and fountains, a small square, a café with a covered terrace, sanitary facilities, as well as parking for cars and bicycles. Additionally, a modern playground has been created, the space has been landscaped, urban furniture has been installed, and the new drainage system will now ensure better rainwater management.
The renewed market is designed for approximately 50 stalls. It will offer vegetables, fruits, greens, fresh products, snails, fish, processed and organic products, dried fruits and nuts, flowers, as well as packaged meat products (sausages, ham/chorizo-type items, pork), halloumi and trahana without a commercial brand. The main goal of the project is to support local producers, promote Cypriot agricultural products and develop the border rural region.
The reconstruction of the Deryneia market was implemented under the 2014–2020 Rural Development Program and co-financed by the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization and the European funds division of the Ministry of Interior.
