Registration queue: participants stayed up all night

In Limassol, excitement is building around the upcoming Grand Parade, the main event of the carnival season. By the evening before registration opened, a queue of dozens of teams had formed outside the Culture Department office, determined to be among the first.
Some participants brought folding chairs, tables, and even grills, turning the wait into a kind of carnival prologue. Others set up tents and spent the night right by the town hall. According to eyewitnesses, the atmosphere resembled a festive picnic — with music, jokes, and costumes.
Registration is only done in person at the office, which caused the excitement. Today, applications are open only for participants of last year’s parade who met all organizational requirements.
New teams and groups that violated participation rules in 2025 can register starting tomorrow.
Traditionally, the first registered teams lead the festive procession. The Grand Parade in Limassol annually gathers thousands of participants and spectators and is considered one of Cyprus's brightest cultural events.
