Paphos District Court Sentences Two to Prison for Possession of Drugs with Intent to Supply
The Paphos District Court in Cyprus sentenced a 35-year-old and a 19-year-old defendant to prison on March 27, 2026, after finding them guilty of illegal possession of controlled substances with intent to supply to other persons.
The arrest of the suspects took place on September 24, 2025, in Paphos during a coordinated operation. The arrests were carried out by officers of the Drug Control Unit (ΥΚΑΝ). They were found in possession of cannabis with a total gross weight of 62 grams, cocaine with a total gross weight of 15 grams, metal grinders, and precision scales.
The court found both guilty of the charges and imposed prison sentences: 3.5 years for the 35-year-old and 2.5 years for the 19-year-old. The court's decision stated that the evidence found during the search provided the basis for qualifying the acts as intended for distribution.
The case reflects the ongoing practice of law enforcement agencies in Cyprus to conduct targeted operations against illegal drug trafficking. Additional procedural details and possible appeals were not disclosed in the initial court report.
