Patient assaulted an X-ray technician at Nicosia General Hospital

In the CT department of Nicosia General Hospital, a patient attacked an X-ray technician during an examination. According to the head of the Association of X-ray Technicians, Tasos Athanasiou, the man first shouted and insulted the employee, unhappy with her remarks that he was moving and interfering with the procedure.
After the patient was escorted out of the room, he continued his aggressive behavior: he threw part of the equipment onto the floor and then struck the technician several times. A nurse attempted to assist her but, according to the union, was also hit. The injured X-ray technician was diagnosed with injuries and required medical assistance.
The incident was immediately reported to the police, and the case materials were forwarded to the CID for investigation. At the same time, the patient remains in the hospital under medical supervision. The Association of X-ray Technicians once again called for strengthened security in public medical institutions — including round-the-clock security presence and more frequent patrols of emergency departments — to protect staff from attacks by aggressive patients.
