Details of the accident involving a tanker: a 17-year-old teenager died in a stolen car accident
The Cyprus Police have revealed the initial details of a fatal accident involving a passenger car and a tanker that occurred early Monday morning. The car was stolen 24 hours before the tragedy. A 17-year-old teenager died.
According to the police press service, the victim of the accident on the Nicosia - Palechori road was 17-year-old Alexandros Kasioulis, whose identity was established the day before after DNA analysis taken during the autopsy. According to the examination results, the deceased apparently got caught under the wheels of a third car as he was getting out of the car stuck under the tanker.
The young man suffered severe head trauma and life-threatening organ injuries. Recall that a major accident occurred on Monday around 5:30 am on the Nicosia - Palechori road. Due to the collision of a passenger car with a tanker, the highway was closed for several hours.
The police have already determined that the car was stolen 24 hours before the collision with the tanker. Presumably, the deceased young man was behind the wheel of the car. As a result of the accident site inspection, it was established that the driver's seat was not damaged, and the victim was on the asphalt.
Presumably, after the accident, he tried to leave the stuck vehicle but got caught under the wheels of a third car, which dragged him along the asphalt for several meters.
The police continue to search for the car that hit the young man.
Yesterday, the police appealed to the public to respond as possible witnesses to the accident. However, so far, no one has responded to the call, and law enforcement agencies have not yet received any information about the circumstances of the death.
