A 19-year-old has been arrested in Paphos for conspiring to commit an offense, hunting in a restricted zone, transporting a collected shotgun, and ignoring a game warden’s signal.

Paphos police are investigating the case involving three individuals: the teenager and two other hunters who are currently at large.

The incident occurred last Sunday. Game Fund patrols were out near the village of Arodes to prevent poaching when they noticed a vehicle with three people inside.

According to the Game Fund, one of the passengers leaned out of the open window and shot a bird. Although the game wardens signaled for the vehicle to stop, the suspects sped away.

Fortunately, wildlife protection activists managed to record the vehicle’s license plate, allowing police to arrest one of the poachers—the 19-year-old. A 27-year-old man and another suspect, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, are still being sought.

The dead bird has been seized as evidence for the trial of the 19-year-old.
