In Cyprus, 53,216 voters participated in the Russian Presidential elections. In the TRNC, 10,383 voters cast their ballots, while in the Republic of Cyprus, 42,833 people voted.

Both in the Republic of Cyprus and in the TRNC, the majority of votes were cast for Vladimir Putin. However, in Northern Cyprus, the incumbent president received nearly 10% fewer votes.

According to the results published on the Central Election Commission (CEC) website of the Russian Federation, in the Russian Presidential elections in polling station No. 8158 in Nicosia, the Russian leader received 85.91% of the votes, while in polling station No. 8439 in North Nicosia, he received 77.48%.

More details about the Russian Presidential elections in Cyprus were provided by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Cyprus, Murat Zhyazikov.

According to the diplomat, considering the large Russian diaspora in Cyprus, which numbers more than 120,000 people, two precinct election commissions were organized on the island, and several polling stations and polling stations for expressing the will of compatriots were opened. In the capital city of Nicosia, polling stations operated for three days at the Russian Embassy and the Russian Center for Science and Culture. In Limassol and Paphos, voting was organized in the offices of the honorary consulate of the Russian Federation, and in Larnaca and Ayia Napa, polling stations operated on March 17 in a local hotel and school.

"Acting President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin won a convincing victory according to preliminary results of the voting for the head of state held in Cyprus. The overwhelming majority of temporarily or permanently residing Russians on the island demonstrated a deeply responsible approach and voted to support our national leader," said Murat Zhyazikov.

It is also worth noting that Russian elections were held for the first time in the TRNC.

According to local media reports, this is one of the important steps taken by Russia in its recent relations with the TRNC. It is noted that the voting took place in an office where Russia conducts unofficial consular operations. However, local media also pointed out that neither the authorities of the TRNC, nor Russia, nor the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus made any official statements regarding the voting in the northern part of the island.

It should be added that a total of 383,553 voters participated in voting abroad, organized at 288 polling stations in 144 countries (including polling stations in Baikonur - 295).

The acting head of state, Vladimir Putin, received 72.3% of the votes abroad, with 275,249 people voting for him. These data are provided in the State Automated System (GAS) "Elections".
