Gunfire and Car Chase in Limassol: Notorious Criminal Escapes Police
A high-speed police chase with gunfire broke out in Limassol today, as officers attempted to apprehend a suspect well known to law enforcement. Despite their efforts, the man managed to escape.
The incident reportedly took place in the Parekklisia area during the afternoon. Officers from the National Crime Agency and Limassol Police Headquarters were pursuing a car driven by a Greek Cypriot man with a criminal history, particularly involving drug-related offenses.
During the chase, the suspect was involved in a road accident. Police officers fired warning shots in an attempt to stop him, but the man abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
A city-wide search operation is now underway. So far, the suspect remains at large, and additional police forces have been dispatched to the area. The abandoned vehicle has been secured, and authorities suspect it may contain a substantial quantity of illegal drugs.
