Police Chase with Gunfire in Paphos: Kidnapping Suspect Captured
A foreign national wanted in Limassol for kidnapping was arrested in Paphos after a dramatic police chase that involved gunfire.
According to the Deputy Head of the Paphos Police Operations Department, at approximately 4:00 PM, police received a report about a foreign man spotted in Kato Paphos. The individual was wanted for a kidnapping allegedly intended for murder, along with other crimes committed in Limassol between October 4 and 6. The suspect was traveling in a car accompanied by several others.
Officers who responded to the call found two foreign nationals, aged 27 and 21, inside the vehicle. They were arrested for lacking proper identification and resisting arrest. Meanwhile, the primary suspect managed to flee into a nearby store.
A foot chase ensued, with officers pursuing the suspect over a significant distance. As the chase continued, police were forced to fire warning shots into the air, which ultimately led to the suspect’s capture.
During a search of the suspect, police found 1 gram of a white powder, believed to be cocaine. The investigation remains ongoing.
