The Cyprus Police will receive 46 new patrol cars
The police fleet of the Republic of Cyprus will soon be strengthened with new police cars and mobile command posts.
Law enforcement will receive 46 hatchback-type patrol cars and two vehicles specifically designed to perform the functions of mobile command posts.
According to the police press service, patrol cars are fully equipped with modern technological equipment necessary to meet the needs of police officers. In addition to the basic equipment (lights, siren, loudspeaker, and projector), the new patrol cars are equipped with a speed radar, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system, police car location determination system, Tetra wireless communication system, and GPS navigation system.
Two specially configured vehicles are equipped with all the technological equipment allowing them to be used as command posts near the locations of police operations. They are equipped with power generation systems, telecommunications management, and audio and video reception from the police operation area. In addition, they have areas for meetings and testimony inside.
The new vehicles were inspected yesterday by the Chief of Police, Stelios Papateodorou, who was briefed on their characteristics and capabilities.
The vehicles will be immediately handed over to the provincial police departments to meet their servicing needs. One mobile command post will be allocated to cover the needs of the Limassol and Paphos police departments, while the second one will serve the needs of the Larnaca and Famagusta police departments.
