Larnaca Police on High Alert for Arrival of Polish Football Hooligans
Larnaca police have been placed on high alert ahead of the arrival of football fans from Poland. This evening, a UEFA Conference League match will be held in Nicosia between the Cypriot club “Omonia” and Warsaw's “Legia.”

According to the Cyprus News Agency, several supporters of “Legia” Warsaw have booked accommodations in Larnaca hotels. In response, the police have put in place an operational plan to prevent any potential incidents.
This plan includes increased patrols along Larnaca’s beaches, side streets, shopping malls, and hotels. The heightened security will be in effect from 5:00 PM until midnight.
Reports indicate that Polish police officers have also arrived on the island to assist in identifying potentially dangerous individuals among the fans.
The Cyprus Police had previously received intelligence that a large number of supporters would be attending the match, with some fans considered a security risk. As a result, Cypriot authorities reached out for assistance from the Polish police.
In addition, “Omonia” was forced to cancel numerous tickets that had been purchased online by “Legia” fans. This action comes after the club's supporters were banned from attending away matches following an incident in which some of them attacked police officers before an away match against the English team “Aston Villa” in last year's UEFA Conference League.
