Police step up raids across Cyprus: five people arrested and hundreds of fines issued

Cyprus Police have summarized the results of large-scale preventive operations conducted across the country over the past week. Increased patrolling and checks were organized in major cities to prevent crime, monitor traffic conditions, and enhance public safety.
As part of the operations, police officers arrested five individuals on various charges, including begging, failure to appear in court, and traffic violations.
In a single night, law enforcement officers stopped and checked 436 drivers and 147 passengers. Simultaneously, inspections were carried out at 37 establishments, resulting in seven administrative notices issued for identified violations.
The police paid special attention to road safety. Following the raids, 192 traffic fines were issued and 13 investigations were initiated. Among the most common violations was speeding, with 57 instances recorded.
Furthermore, the police conducted 75 breathalyzer tests for driving under the influence. Ten vehicles were impounded as part of the investigations.
The police emphasized that such coordinated operations will continue daily. Authorities state that the increased presence of patrols, spot checks, and swift operational actions aim to prevent crime, protect citizens, and strengthen the sense of security within the community.
