Police Increase Road Controls for Green Monday Long Weekend
In view of the three-day holiday for Green Monday, the police are urging drivers to be particularly careful and strictly observe the Traffic Code.
A significant increase in traffic is expected across the country's road network. Consequently, the Headquarters Traffic Police and district units are stepping up control measures on highways as well as intercity and urban roads.
The goal of the increased police presence is to ensure safe movement, assist drivers when necessary, and identify violations that pose a safety threat.
Intensive alcohol checks will be conducted throughout the weekend. The main objective is to remove intoxicated drivers from the road.
Checks for speeding, seat belt and helmet use, as well as mobile phone use while driving have also been intensified—as these violations are most often the cause of serious and fatal accidents.
