Motorcyclist Dies After Accident at British Base in Cyprus
A tragic accident at a British base in Cyprus has resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
The British Bases Police in Cyprus reported that the collision, involving two cars and a motorcycle, occurred the previous evening at 7:30 PM in Dasaki Achnas, within the Dhekelia base area. A 52-year-old Cypriot driving a car suddenly swerved to avoid hitting a vehicle parked on the shoulder. At that moment, a 21-year-old motorcyclist was overtaking him. Simultaneously, a car driven by a 19-year-old man was approaching from the opposite direction, leading to a collision between the two cars and the motorcycle.
The injured motorcyclist, 21-year-old Neophytos Konstantinou, was taken to a general hospital in Nicosia, where he underwent surgery. Despite the doctors' efforts, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Both car drivers were tested for alcohol and drugs, with results coming back negative. They have been released on bail after providing their statements.
The Dhekelia British Base Police are investigating the circumstances of this tragic accident.
