How Much Do Students Spend Monthly in Cyprus?
Eurostat, the European statistics agency, has published new data on the average monthly expenses students face across Europe — and the numbers for Cyprus are eye-opening.
According to the report, students in Cyprus now need around €1,600 per month to cover their basic living expenses. That’s a significant jump from 2021, when monthly costs were estimated at no more than €1,300. The primary reason behind the increase is rising rental prices.
Surprisingly, the data also suggests that for many Cypriot students, studying abroad can be more affordable than staying on the island — even at public universities.
In Greece, for example — a popular destination due to the shared language — the average student needs around €1,300 per month.
Croatia has also grown in popularity in recent years, with students spending about €1,074 per month. In Bulgaria, the average monthly cost is estimated at €1,100.
One of the cheapest options for students is the Czech Republic, where monthly living expenses range from €650 to €800, depending on the region.
On the more expensive side, the United Kingdom ranks among the top, with average monthly expenses of €1,500 — and even €1,800 in central London.
But Denmark tops the list as the most expensive country for students, with average living costs reaching €2,500 per month.
