The increase in the minimum wage in Cyprus has affected 25,000 workers
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Cyprus, the recent increase in the minimum wage affected 25,000 workers in January.
The Ministry also stated that they plan to conduct targeted inspections at workplaces and analyze social insurance contribution data to ensure that employers have properly increased wages for their employees.
It is also reported that the department will analyze potential complaints and impose fines on violating companies.
Recall that earlier it was reported that in December of last year, the government of Cyprus announced that starting from January, the minimum wage would increase from 940 euros to 1000 euros.
Some employers have expressed concern that the increase will lead to an increase in operating expenses.
