The President of Cyprus extends condolences in connection with the shooting at Charles University in Prague
The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Christodoulides, expressed solidarity with the people of the Czech Republic following the deadly attack at Charles University in Prague. According to the latest information, the number of victims in the attack has reached 14 people.
"At this shocking and painful moment, we stand firmly in solidarity with the Czech Republic and its people. Sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of the brutal attack at Charles University in Prague," wrote the Cypriot leader on the X platform.
In another statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Konstantinos Kombos, stated that he is deeply shocked by the tragic events in Prague. The Minister expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
It is worth noting that, according to the Ambassador of Cyprus in the Czech Republic, Georgios Yagou, around 80 Cypriots are studying at Charles University in Prague. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus stated that none of them were harmed.
Recall that information about the shooting at the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University in Prague reached emergency services on Thursday at 14:49 local time.
A 24-year-old student, David Kozak, opened fire on people. As a result of the attack, dozens of people were injured, and 14 people died. The identities of the 13 victims have already been established, all of them Czechs. Among the wounded is a Dutch national and two students from the United Arab Emirates. The male shooter took his own life.
