Cypriot President Expresses Support for Sweden After Örebro School Shooting

Nicos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, has extended his condolences and solidarity to the Swedish people following a tragic shooting at an educational center in Örebro, Sweden. At least 11 people have been confirmed dead, and several others were injured in the attack.

The Cypriot president shared his message of support in a post on the X platform.

He stated, “There is no place in our society for such senseless and brutal acts. Schools must remain safe havens for both education and security.”

“Devastated by the tragic events in Örebro, my thoughts are with the victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with the Swedish people,” the President wrote.

The tragedy occurred on Tuesday, February 4, in Örebro, about 200 kilometers west of Stockholm, at Campus Risbergska, a school for adult learners.

The latest reports indicate that 11 people have lost their lives as a result of the shooting, including the shooter. At least six others have been injured. It has been confirmed that the attacker acted alone, although the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson described the incident as the deadliest shooting in the nation’s history.
