Wildfire Erupts on British Bases near Limassol
A wildfire has broken out in the Limassol district, with five aircraft deployed to fight the flames.
The fire is burning through wild vegetation near the villages of Fassouri and Asomatos, an area under the jurisdiction of the British bases in Cyprus. Fire trucks from Limassol stations have been sent to assist the military in containing the blaze.
According to a statement from the British bases, the fire has not yet been brought under control. Five aircraft are battling the fire from the air—one from the 84th Squadron military base and four from the Forestry Department. Additionally, four fire trucks are on the ground.
The public has been urged to avoid the area to ensure that roads remain clear for emergency vehicles.
