Booking activity increases ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays

Ahead of the festive season in Cyprus, an increase in booking activity in restaurants and hotels across the city has been observed, said Neofytos Frasivoulou, President of the Federation of Associations of Entertainment Venue Owners (ΟΣΙΚΑ).
According to him, bookings for December days account for approximately 60% for the holiday period, and this figure is expected to grow, as many residents prefer to make decisions at the last moment. At the beginning of the month, attendance at such establishments ranged between approximately 40% and 50%.
Frasivoulou also noted that during the summer tourist season the sector experienced positive changes: after relatively low early bookings, an increase in activity has been observed since July, which was warmly welcomed by representatives of the leisure industry.
He pointed out that more Cypriots chose to stay on the island in August and visit local leisure centers instead of traveling abroad. In addition, tourist flows, especially to coastal areas such as the free areas of Famagusta and Paphos, were higher than in previous years.
Frasivoulou considers this an encouraging sign of an extended tourist season, expressing hope that this trend will continue and that the Ministry of Tourism’s efforts to maintain regular flights during the winter months will be sustained.
