Russian Helicopters in Cyprus Replaced by Greek H145Ms
This morning, a new fleet of H145M helicopters from the Hellenic National Guard arrived in Cyprus. The aircraft will be stationed at the "Andreas Papandreou" Air Base in Paphos.
A handover ceremony took place Friday morning, attended by Minister of Defence Vasilis Palmas. The new H145M helicopters, manufactured by Airbus, represent the latest generation of multi-role rotary-wing aircraft. The first batch has now been deployed to the Andreas Papandreou Air Base. Under an agreement signed in the summer of 2022, a total of 12 helicopters are scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2025.
These helicopters replace 11 Russian-made Mi-35s, which have been sold to Serbia. According to Airbus, the H145M is a modern, highly adaptable combat helicopter that offers a wide range of tactical capabilities on the battlefield.
The H145M is especially valued for its ability to rapidly transport troops and supplies, deliver precise firepower to neutralize or eliminate enemy forces, and provide critical support to friendly units during combat. It is known for its exceptional performance, versatility, durability, and reliability. The helicopter can be equipped with a broad array of mission-specific systems, offering operators maximum flexibility.
