Since the beginning of the year, more than two thousand migrants have been deported from Cyprus
Since the beginning of 2024, the police of the Republic of Cyprus have discovered more than two thousand individuals illegally residing in the country. All of them have been deported or repatriated.
According to statistics covering the period from the beginning of 2024 to March 8, a total of 2247 migrants have been expelled from the country. For comparison, during the same period in 2023, the number was 1645 individuals.
The police bulletin states that the latest flight for forced deportation took place on March 5 in collaboration with Frontex (the European Union Agency for the Security of External Borders). This marks the third such participation of the Cypriot police in joint operations within a year.
The police announced that their efforts, in conjunction with the migration department, to "maximize" the number of returnees continue.
It should be noted that one of such operations to combat illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus took place last Sunday in the provinces of Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca, and Famagusta.
During the operation from 06:00 to 11:00, 23 foreigners were identified and arrested for illegally residing in the country.
