The Larnaca administration has carried out the demolition of two kiosks and two beach bars from Pharos Beach in Perivolia, which had been in operation for 15 years.

This action followed a recommendation from the Environmental Commissioner.

Local media reports indicate that the kiosk owners had permits from the Perivolia Community Council. However, a Larnaca district official deemed these permits invalid, as any modifications within the beach protection zone require approval from the Council of Ministers.

Furthermore, an investigation by the Environmental Commissioner revealed that the establishments were selling alcoholic beverages without the necessary licenses. Some businesses were also using generators and playing loud music, contributing to noise pollution.

Notices were posted on the two properties a few days ago. Yesterday morning, district administration teams, accompanied by police, began the demolition. Despite protests, the process was completed successfully.

The decision has sparked dissatisfaction among the business owners, who had operated at the site for many years and believed they had the proper authorization.
