EasyJet flight from Paphos to Bristol makes emergency landing in Turkey

An EasyJet flight from Paphos to Bristol made an emergency landing in Turkey yesterday after passengers reported a smell of smoke in the cabin.
The flight was cruising at around 36,000 feet when the captain made an emergency landing at Izmir Airport just an hour and 20 minutes after takeoff.
According to the AirLive platform, the aircraft “suddenly turned west from Turkey and began descending” to Izmir Airport, where emergency crews assisted the plane as a precaution.
All passengers disembarked and were provided with hotel accommodation and meals. An EasyJet spokesperson confirmed that the flight was diverted due to a technical issue.
The company reported that the flight to Bristol would be operated later the same day with a different aircraft. “The safety of passengers and crew is our highest priority,” said the airline representative, adding that its fleet operates “in full compliance with manufacturers’ guidelines.”
“We thank passengers for their understanding and apologize for the inconvenience,” EasyJet representatives said.
