'Happiness is Being Healthy in Body and Soul': Wisdom from a 93-Year-Old Winter Swimmer
Andreas Lambrou, 93, often hears—even from doctors—that he looks younger than his age. The secret, he says, is simple: movement and moderation.
"Constant swimming and daily contact with the sea have played a positive role—for both body and soul. I eat almost everything, but in small portions. I don't drink alcohol, and I never smoked."
When asked about happiness, he answers like a teacher: "Happiness is not in a luxurious house to show off to friends. Happiness is being physically and mentally strong. Life is short—one must live with dignity, honesty, and humanity. Try to live without enemies, be friendly, and love people."
Born in Deryneia (1932) and raised in Famagusta, he graduated from English High School. In 1959, he married Elli. After 1974, the family moved to Larnaca. Today, his words resonate as a reminder of what truly matters.
