Schoolchildren Sing Christmas Songs to the President of Cyprus
Children from primary schools in Cyprus sang Christmas hymns to the President of the country, Nikos Christodoulides, and the First Lady, Filippe Carsera. The festive evening for the children took place at the Presidential Palace on Monday.
Welcoming the children and their teachers, the presidential couple wished the students and their families happy holidays and a bright future.
The reception at the head of the state was attended by students from primary schools in Ayios Omologites, Ayios Vasilios, Makedonitissa, Engomi, Ayios Dometios, Pernera, Archangelos, as well as children from the school for the deaf and the private singing school of Iphigenias Christodulu.
Nikos Christodoulides specifically mentioned the students from the enclave of Rizokarpasso.
"As the holiday season approaches, all we can think about is that the joyful message of the birth of God will no longer be heard throughout the island this year," said the leader of the Greek Cypriots.
Nikos Christodoulides emphasized that, despite the difficulties associated with efforts to resume negotiations on the Cyprus problem, he is "determined to fight for the achievement of the goal."
