Nicosia school evacuated after report of bomb in car
On Monday morning, authorities received a report of a possible bomb in a car parked near the First Primary School of Engomi (A’ Dimotiko Scholeio Engomis) in Nicosia.
According to reports from the scene, an unknown person approached school staff and stated there might be an explosive device in the car before fleeing. The staff immediately notified the police.
The school, located near the Russian Embassy, was promptly evacuated. Students and staff were moved outside the building, and roads surrounding the educational institution were closed.
Police forces are on the scene inspecting the suspicious vehicle. So far, nothing suspicious has been found inside the car, but the checks are ongoing.
Parents were notified via messages and began picking up their children. According to educational officials, the security protocol was implemented quickly, and children were moved to the school playground before their parents arrived.
