Larnaca Police Director Haralambos Zachariou Passes Away at 53
Larnaca’s Police Director, Haralambos Zachariou, has passed away at the age of 53. In recent days, he had been receiving treatment at a hospital in Germany.
According to local media, Zachariou died on Friday in a German oncology clinic.
Throughout his career, he served in various roles within the Larnaca police force and was promoted to director just a few months ago.
Despite his ongoing health issues, Zachariou continued working almost until the very end—just days ago, he was still in his office, issuing instructions to ensure the smooth functioning of the department.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
His funeral will be held on Monday at 3:30 PM at the Church of Saint Phanourios in Aradippou.
Following his death, the ceremony in honor of Saint Irene—the patron saint of the police—scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2025, has been canceled.
