Cyclone "Avgi" moves southward and weakens: weather in Cyprus on February 1st
According to the Department of Meteorology of the Republic of Cyprus, on Thursday, February 1st, low pressure persists in the region. However, the barometric minimum of cyclone "Avgi" is gradually shifting southward and starting to weaken.
Variable cloudiness, rain, and thunderstorms are expected in the first half of the day, mainly on the eastern and northern coasts. Precipitation is also possible in the inland areas. In the second half of the day, rain will primarily fall in the highlands and to the south of Troodos. Snow is expected in the mountains.
According to the meteorological forecast, the air temperature during the day will reach up to 15°C in inland areas, up to 16°C on the coasts, and down to 2°C in mountainous areas where frost prevails.
By evening and night, increased cloudiness is expected, followed by isolated downpours on the western and northern coasts.
The air temperature will drop to approximately 4°C in inland areas, around 6°C on the coasts, and down to 2°C in mountainous areas. Freezing is expected in the mountains.
It is also noted that the snow cover height in the Troodos mountains at the time of the bulletin release was 27 cm.
By the weekend, the air temperature will slightly increase and remain close to average climatic values or even slightly higher.
