University of Cyprus begins issuing European Student Card
The University of Cyprus has become the first higher education institution in the country to start issuing the European Student Card (ESC). To date, more than 7,500 cards have been issued to students, of which about 6,900 remain active.
As reported by the university, the implementation of the card is part of the European Student Card Initiative (ESCI) and aligns with the principles of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education. The project aims to simplify academic mobility for students and expand international cooperation.
The card is available in both physical and digital formats, and its issuance occurs automatically through the university's system. It is also integrated with the MyCard digital application.
The European Student Card allows Erasmus+ students to undergo electronic identification at EU universities, simplifies administrative procedures when studying abroad, and provides access to various services, benefits, and student discounts across Europe.
According to the Rector of the University, Tasos Christofides, the implementation of the ESC is an important step in the digital modernization of the institution and the strengthening of its international presence.
