The University of Nicosia ranked in the top 501–600 of the THE World University Rankings 2026.
The University of Nicosia has been recognized as one of the world’s leading universities by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, published on October 24, 2025. The institution achieved a position in the 501–600 group for the fourth consecutive year.
The university also ranked among the top 151 universities of the European Union and took first place among Greek and Cypriot universities in the “Research Quality” category.
The THE ranking evaluated 2,191 institutions from 115 countries across five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. The university’s statement highlights that its consistent performance reflects strategic investments in research infrastructure, interdisciplinary projects, and international collaboration.
Professor Philippos Pouyioutas, Rector of the University of Nicosia, noted that the institution has become one of the world’s top university centers and expressed gratitude to the academic, research, and administrative staff, as well as students and alumni, for their contribution to the university’s achievements.
Professor Dimitris Drikakis, Vice President for International Collaboration and Executive Director of the Office of Research and Innovation at the University of Nicosia, stated that recognition by Times Higher Education confirms the university’s commitment to quality, innovation, and societal contribution, as well as the effectiveness of its research strategy.
