Avakas Gorge in Cyprus Closed to Visitors
The Avakas Gorge in the Akamas National Forest Park, Cyprus, has been closed to visitors. Visiting the canyon may pose a danger.
The closure of the Avakas Gorge was announced by the Department of Forests of the Republic of Cyprus. The reasons include an increase in water flow, slippery surfaces, the risk of falling rocks, as well as ground erosion.
Due to the threat to visitors, Avakas Gorge in the Akamas National Forest Park has been closed since December 15. This measure is considered necessary for the safety of citizens.
The Department of Forests apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
The restriction will last until the risks are minimized. The gorge will reopen as soon as the department deems it safe for people.
