The Government of the Republic of Cyprus has approved a bill to introduce maximum allowable prices for a range of products and bottled water at the country's airports and seaports.

According to the Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, Georgios Papanastasiou, this concerns places that are effectively closed markets, where prices are often unreasonably inflated.

It is expected that the document regulating maximum allowable prices will be submitted for approval by parliament by the end of the week.

According to local media reports, in addition to airports and harbors, price ceilings are also planned to be set at a number of sports facilities, as well as on beaches, in museums, cinemas, and archaeological sites in the country.
