Two British women detained at Paphos airport with a large batch of duty-free cigarettes

Two British citizens were taken into custody after customs officers at Paphos airport discovered a large batch of duty-free cigarettes in their luggage, intended for illegal export.
The incident occurred on Monday when, based on operational information, customs services checked the luggage of a 30-year-old and a 22-year-old passenger traveling on a flight to Manchester (United Kingdom).
During the inspection, four suitcases were checked, revealing 336 packs of cigarettes, 200 cigarettes in each pack. It was determined that each woman was carrying 168 packs in two pieces of luggage.
Both passengers were detained, and the luggage along with its contents was confiscated.
On Tuesday, the women appeared before the Paphos District Court, which decided to keep them in custody for four days to continue the investigation.
