Coastal Promenade in Ayios Tychonas Under Urgent Repair After Storm
Ayios Tychonas: the coastal pedestrian path sustained serious damage following a severe sea storm.
The Municipality of Amathus reported that the condition of the promenade, one of the most popular in the Limassol region, has significantly deteriorated. Of particular concern is the wooden pedestrian bridge, which has been closed to the public due to structural damage.
Authorities confirmed that access to the bridge is prohibited until technical expertise is completed and restoration work is carried out. According to Mayor Kyriakos Xidias, the situation no longer allows for partial repairs only.
The municipality intends to proceed with a complete reconstruction and modernization of the promenade. However, as the mayor emphasized, the project, costing several million euros, will require significant financial support from the state.
Residents and tourists are urged to follow warning signs and stay out of closed areas.
