Man and woman detained in Ayia Napa with cash and jewelry of unknown origin
In the Ayia Napa area, police detained a 45-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman after a large sum of money and several pieces of jewelry were discovered during a check.
According to the police, Cyprus Police officers arrived at a store following a report of a possible theft. At the scene, they stopped and checked two suspects.
During the search, 1,264 euros and 500 dollars were found on the 45-year-old man, while six bracelets were found on the woman. Since the suspects could not explain the origin of the money and jewelry, they were detained on suspicion of illegal possession of property.
In addition, the man was further arrested for assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and disturbing the peace after he began shouting and pushed the officers.
The investigation is ongoing by the Ayia Napa police station.
