Evacuation Ordered in Akrotiri Following Security Threat at Base
Following the announcement of a second security threat at the British airbase RAF Akrotiri, authorities have decided to evacuate.
Initially, the base command ordered the removal of personnel from the military facility. Subsequently, the Cyprus government issued instructions to also evacuate the village of Akrotiri.
According to sources, the decision was made in coordination with the British side. Other residential areas located within the base zone were not subject to evacuation.
Residents are advised to remain in safe locations and follow the instructions of civil defense services. Information on further measures will be provided as the situation develops.
