A detained man attacked and injured a police officer at Larnaca General Hospital
A 27-year-old detainee attacked a police officer at Larnaca General Hospital in Cyprus on February 7, 2026. The man had been taken to the hospital for medical examinations from the Menogeia migrant detention center.
After the examinations were completed, the police officer attempted to handcuff the detainee again, at which point the detainee reacted and struck the law enforcement officer. The officer sustained a laceration to the head and was discharged after receiving medical treatment.
The detainee was returned to the detention facility. The incident is being investigated by the Larnaca Minor Offences Unit.
