During the past weekend in Greece, a large anti-war rally was held. Participants of the march protested near the Ministry of National Defense against the military plans of the USA, NATO, and the EU.

According to media reports, several hundred protesters gathered in the town of Marathon, after which the column headed towards the Ministry of Defense building in Athens. Along the way, new participants joined them. Eventually, a column of several thousand people arrived at the ministry.

As reported by RIA Novosti, the event was held as part of the Day of National Anti-Imperialist Actions. The Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE) called for mass participation in the Marathon of Peace to demonstrate disagreement with military actions and to oppose Greece's involvement in them. One of the slogans of the activists was "Give money for healthcare and education, not for NATO headquarters."

The demonstrators also expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine and demanded an end to bloodshed in the Gaza Strip. It is noted that mass actions also took place in other cities of Greece.
