New Gallery Featuring Works by Greek Artists to Open in Larnaca
A municipal art gallery will open in Larnaca. The creation of this gallery has been made possible by the donation of works by Greek artists and engravers from the 19th and 20th centuries from the collection of Haralambos and Maria Christoforou.
This week, an agreement was signed with the donors for the transfer of part of their collection to the Larnaca Municipal Art Gallery.
Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras thanked the couple for their generosity, stating that the donation of artworks significantly expands and enriches the municipality's collection and strengthens its efforts in cultural development.
"The Christoforou collection covers an important period in the history of art," emphasized Andreas Vyras.
The mayor also noted that private collections play a crucial role as a source of inspiration and in attracting the public to art.
An exhibition of the Christoforou collection in Larnaca will be held in one of the historical buildings of the city - in the multifunctional Space of Culture and Creativity.
