A teenager is on trial in Larnaca for forging intimate photos of teachers and classmates
A 15-year-old schoolboy has been arrested in Cyprus after he allegedly edited explicit images of teachers and classmates and posted them online. The teenager appeared before the British Military Bases Court and faces nine charges, including child pornography.
According to local media, the 14-year-old schoolboy from Larnaca province has already confessed to falsifying photos of high school students and teachers and distributing them on a social networking site. Using an online application, the teenager altered photos and created nude images of female classmates and teachers.
The court decided to impose restrictive conditions on the juvenile until the next hearing, which is scheduled for next Friday.
He is prohibited from using electronic devices such as phone, laptop, tablet, computer. He is also not allowed to use the Internet and communicate with the victims and other defendants in the case. The 14-year-old did not respond to the charges until he consulted with an attorney.
Authorities are investigating the possible involvement of other students who allegedly shared the photos in social media groups.
There are two parallel investigations into the incident, one by the British Bases Police and the other by the Cypriot Ministry of Education.
The Ministry of Education has requested a report from the school's management on the facts of the incident.
At the same time, the British bases, in cooperation with the Community Police Family Associations, have established a special level of psychological and counseling support for both the schoolgirls in the photographs and all other students involved.
