Two men detained in Larnaca in connection with a theft from a church building

Larnaca police detained two men aged 38 and 63 as part of an investigation into a break-in and theft committed on the grounds of a church complex.
The incident was discovered on January 3 at around 11:20. Police officers stopped a vehicle that appeared suspicious for inspection in one of the districts of Larnaca. A 38-year-old man was behind the wheel. During a search of the car, officers found church items and a metal cutter.
Further checks established that the items found had been stolen from a building located on church grounds. According to police, the theft occurred between January 1 and January 3, 2026.
The 38-year-old suspect was arrested and taken to the Larnaca District Court, which ordered that he be remanded in custody for four days.
In the same case, a 63-year-old man was later arrested on the basis of a court warrant. Today he also appeared before the court, which ordered his two-day detention to continue the investigation.
Investigative actions in the case are ongoing.
