One of Cyprus's largest sporting events, the XM Limassol Marathon, will take place in Limassol on March 21 and 22. This year, organizers expect more than 17,000 participants.

According to the event's development director, Andreas Spyrou, the marathon has grown significantly in recent years, evolving from a local race into an international event. In 2026, about 3,000 participants will travel from abroad — a 36% increase compared to last year.

The marathon program includes several distances: a full marathon, a half marathon, 10km and 5km races, a children's race, and a corporate race, which is considered the largest team-building event on the island.

Organizers note that the marathon is open to everyone — from professional athletes to beginners and families with children.

The event also plays an important role in the country's economy: it attracts tourists during the off-season and strengthens Limassol's image as an international sports hub.

Despite the geopolitical situation in the region, interest from foreign participants remains high.
