Two Teenagers in Limassol Help Catch Serial Thief
In Limassol, two minors played a crucial role in exposing and apprehending a serial thief. The perpetrator was identified thanks to a fingerprint found on a mobile phone. Currently, authorities are investigating the 53-year-old man for his involvement in five theft cases.
Officers from the Germasoyia Police Station and the Bicycle Police made the arrest on Sunday afternoon, around 3:30 PM, following a theft report filed by two 16-year-old youths.
According to the teenagers' statement, the incident occurred late the previous night on the beach in the Dasoudi area of Germasoyia, where two mobile phones belonging to them and a gold chain with a cross were stolen.
Utilizing a mobile app, the teenagers traced one of the stolen devices to a specific area in Germasoyia and promptly reported it to the police station.
Subsequently, police officers located and apprehended the 53-year-old suspect in the area where the trace of the stolen mobile phone led. Upon searching the suspect, both stolen phones and the chain were recovered. Furthermore, three additional mobile phones and electronic watches were found in his possession, all suspected to be stolen goods.
The 53-year-old suspect was promptly arrested by police officers and taken into custody for questioning. Ongoing investigations are being conducted by the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Germasoyia Police Station.
