Cars Ablaze in Limassol and Larnaca Overnight: Police Suspect Arson
Two cars were destroyed by fire last night in Limassol and Larnaca, with another vehicle suffering damage. Authorities suspect at least one of the fires was an act of arson.
According to police reports, the first incident occurred in Limassol at approximately 12:40 a.m. A car parked outside a workshop, where it had been stationary for six months due to mechanical issues, caught fire. The blaze caused extensive damage to the vehicle.
The area was cordoned off as investigators began their work. Police believe the fire was started intentionally.
Shortly after midnight, another fire broke out in Aradippou, Larnaca. Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis stated that the vehicle was parked on the street when it ignited. Firefighters arrived promptly and managed to extinguish the flames.
The second fire left the car heavily damaged and also caused significant harm to a nearby commercial vehicle parked alongside it.
Police investigations into both incidents are ongoing, with authorities working to determine the exact causes and whether the fires are linked.
