A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Limassol
Over the past weekend, a serious road accident with fatal consequences occurred in Cyprus. In Limassol, a man riding a motorcycle was killed in the crash. Two women were also injured in the accident.
According to the police press service, the accident occurred yesterday morning around 7:40 a.m. on the main road from Kalos Horio to Limassol. 30-year-old Euthychios Charitou was riding a motorcycle and collided head-on with a car coming from the opposite direction, which in turn was rear-ended by another car.
As a result of the initial collision, the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital, where attending physicians pronounced him dead. The police specify that the deceased motorcyclist was wearing a protective helmet and full motorcycle gear.
Two female passengers in one of the cars were also injured in the accident. They were taken to a private clinic in Limassol, where they received first aid and were discharged. Passengers in the second car were uninjured.
Both drivers underwent alcohol tests, with the 44-year-old man registering 5 micrograms instead of 22, which is the maximum limit set by law. The second driver was sober at the time of the accident.
The Limassol Traffic Police continue their investigation.
